During the Easter holidays, I visited the Les Mis film production costume exhibition at Portsmouth Dockyard. Parts of the film were actually filmed in Portsmouth. It was interesting to actually look at the real life garments close up rather than on the TV screen, designed by Paco Delgado! It was required for a large crew to create approximately 2,200 costumes for the whole set, including main characters as well as all the extras. The garments were created and then had to be destroyed to create the right look, to ensure that the outfits looked like they belonged to beggars and the poor, by ripping, shredding and burning the fabrics. Below are the costumes worn by Ann Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Hugh Jackman and Samantha Barks.
